The Conference is hosted in Nicosia, Cyprus,
and continues the successful 1st
European Across Grids Conference, held in Santiago de Compostela,
Spain, on February 2003. The 2nd European Across-Grids Conference
aims to examine the state of the art in research and technology developments
in Grid Computing, and provide a forum for the presentation of, and
exchange of views on latest grid-related research results and future
work. The Conference wishes to bring together researchers, developers,
practitioners and potential users of Grid technologies from Europe
and around the world.
Aims and Scope
The Grid is emerging as a global infrastructure that integrates
computing resources over the Internet and enables the formation
of multi-institutional virtual organizations. It is also seen as
the point of convergence between eScience and eBusiness, offering
a range of services that provide solutions to complex problems of
science, business, industry, and society. Because of its importance
as an emerging technology, the Grid is one of the Strategic Objectives
of the IST priority of the 6th EU Framework for Research and Technological
Development 2002-2006, and has already attracted considerable industrial
interest.
